Depth and profile measuring devices: Extensions for measuring tables

Measuring tables are platforms for the precise measurement of objects. Which kind of measuring work is carried out, is decided by the used Dial gauges. With a Dial gauge depth gauge is used to measure the depth or profile of a workpiece. It is therefore suitable as a surface profile tester and for similar tasks. A digital depth gauge is usually designed for a measuring range of 0 to 13 mm. The digital profile depth gauge is designed for very fine measurements in a range up to one millimeter.

The dial gauges of the Depth gauges are available with a measuring bridge diameter of 16 or 25 mm. The measuring bridge is made of stainless steel. Likewise, the entire dial gauges are made of stainless steel. Thus the gauges are very durable and robust. Even after a long time in use, the devices measure precisely.

Analogue or digital - the differences between depth and profile gauges

There are two variants of depth and profile gauges. The difference lies in the display of the measurement results. The digital depth gauge has a display on which the numbers are shown. The analogue depth and profile gauges have a scale like that of a classic watch. Such a Dial gauge has a measuring travel of 30 mm and measures with an error limit of +/- 0.03 mm. The scale division of the dial gauge is 0.01 mm or 0.001 mm for the surface profile tester.

The digital profile depth gauge measures with an accuracy of up to +/- 0.005 mm. The graduation on the display is 0.001 mm, so that measured values can be determined very accurately. The digital technology also offers several other helpful functions. For example, it is possible to switch between millimetres and inches at the touch of a button. In this way, measurements in both formats are possible simultaneously at one workstation. Zeroing during a measurement is also possible, as is starting with a preset value.

The big advantage of the digital profile depth gauge is the data interface. Cables for data transmission can be connected here. Suitable cables in different standards are optionally available. There are cables of type rs-232 or usb as well as modules for wireless transmission via Wi-Fi for the digital profile depth gauge. In this way, a direct connection to a computer is established or the measuring tool is integrated into the network structure. This facilitates further data processing, as the measured values are available in real time and in digital form.

Extend the measuring options with different accessories

The Measuring inserts of the depth gauges are interchangeable. It is therefore possible to switch between a point and ball measuring insert. This makes it possible to carry out particularly precise measurements or, alternatively, to determine the average depth of a surface. Extensions for the measuring tips are also included with some models. There are extensions with 25, 50, 75 and 100 mm. In this way, the measuring tip can be extended and the measuring range extended up to 300 mm.
